Late night binges
'm craving Twizzlers right now but all I have are these blueberries. If I had bought the Twizzlers which are 2 packs for $5 lately I would have had A LOT of them.
When we binge it's usually because we haven't eaten enough of the right foods in the day. We assume that we are weak but the truth is that we are just hungry. By the time 8 pm or 9 pm comes around and we go for the stuff that makes us feel good (like Twizzlers and popcorn in my case). We go wild and then we feel guilty. The next day we repeat the cycle by restricting out of guilt from the night before.
If we buy soda we will drink soda. If we buy Twizzlers we will eat twizzlers. It's much easier to exercise restraint at the grocery store when we are not hungry. Later when we are hungry we will want to satisfy the craving right away and likely won't drive to the store (especially if it's after 8!). Instead we will pick from a selection of just as sweet or salty food hacks that we planned for at the store. We won't experience that guilt or sugar crash and we will break the binge cycle. If you find yourself binge eating ask yourself if you are eating enough of the right foods. You aren't as weak as you may think.
