The leftover french fry dilemma

Ah.... The leftover french fry dilemma. This was left on my counter a couple of nights ago. The kids ran upstairs and I was all alone with these fry guys. I had just been asked by someone that day how they should deal with their kids leftovers. They had been told as a kid to never throw out food and found themselves eating extra every night. Most of us were probably told this as kids as well. I can certainly relate. So I snapped this photo.

This time in particular there were no good crunchy fries left so I didn't really have any. But normally I would walk over to the fridge, grab some mayo and ketchup and make a dipping sauce. Then I'd pull out all the crunchy ones, throw out the rest and sit at the counter in peace and enjoy. Keep in mind I'll usually have a salad instead of the fries so i've been eyeballing them and i'm excited.

The french fry struggle is real:

πŸ’§πŸ’§   You might be someone who doesn't want to overdo it.  I was once told by a friend that they put water on their plate in a restaurant to ruin them so they didn't over indulge. That works!

πŸ—‘πŸ—‘  You might feel guilty throwing them out but they don't make great leftovers.

πŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸ€·β€β™€οΈ You might just eat them all

Here are some ideas. I would love to hear your stories/solutions!!!

1. Try making just the right amount: Don't restrict or punish yourself. If you take an extra 30 seconds to think about the quantity you are cooking you can save yourself the stress.

2. Use them the next day: I've always thrown them out because I figured they wouldn't work well as a leftover but there are a lot ideas out there to upcycle them. I'm going to try putting them in a skillet one day to see if I can make the kids good breakfast potatoes. I'll share of course!

3. Compost them! Who does't want veggies that taste like french fries??!!!

4. Feed them to the the squirrels so they don't eat your garbage🧐

5. Make a dipping sauce, eat the crunchy ones and know that you are human and these are delicious πŸŸ. Tell yourself that next time you will have a plan to be more satisfied after eating and be able to do one of the steps above.
